‘Valley City’ project to enhance Qatar’s image

Qatar’s SAK Holding Group is set to implement a state-of-the-art “Valley City” project in the country, which will comprise a resort and a hotel and thousands of residential units among other facilities. Valley City will occupy about 3mn sq m and located near one of the stadiums for the FIFA World Cup 2022. According to SAK Holding Group, the residential units will comprise both villas and apartments.

 

The resort and a four star hotel will be built over an area of 12,000sq m. The other facilities include 250,000sq m central park, a 40,000sq m mall, a 20,000sq m cultural village and markets spread over an area of 20,000sq m. Provisions for business and commercial offices, green zone and recreation facilities will also be provided, the company said yesterday. Designed by Lebanon-based MZ Architects, the Valley City project recently won a coveted award in the “Regeneration and Master planning” category at the MIPIM Future Project Awards ceremony in Cannes, France. The jury that chose the Valley City project termed it as an “architectural milestone”, SAK Holding Group said.

 

The project showcases “elegant engineering and architectural aspects” while its design adheres to the “standards of quality and sustainability”. Dedicating the international award to HH the Emir and HH the Heir Apparent, SAK Holding Group chairman Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah al-Thani said the Valley City project was the first to be built by the company in Qatar. The project would be “unique” in nature and enhance the image of Qatar’s real estate sector worldwide. Qatar is witnessing “unprecedented” development under the wise leadership of HH the Emir and HH the Heir Apparent. Sheikh Thani said the project was being conceived to meet Qatar’s requirements for FIFA World Cup 2022. And it will be implemented in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.It will also be highly environment-friendly and will focus on energy conservation, waste management and locally sourcing high quality building materials.
